UC Funding Programs
Listed below are selected research funding opportunities administered by units in the UC system and open to UC Davis faculty (and, in some cases, graduate students).
California Institute for Energy and Environment (CIEE)
CIEE advances productivity and competitiveness through energy efficiency research.
California Policy Research Center (CPRC)
CPRC commissions timely research on public policy topics that affect California. Its current funding programs are:
- Policy Research Program Research Funding (awards last made 2006-2007)
California Program on Access to Care (CPAC)
Formerly administered by the CPRC, CPAC funds research on healthcare topics germane to California's vulnerable populations.
Health Initiative of the Americas (HIA)
The Initiative's objective is to coordinate and optimize the availability of health resources for Mexican immigrants and their families through bilateral training, research, and health promotion activities.Institute on Global Conflict and Cooperation (IGCC)
IGCC promotes study of the causes of international conflict and opportunities to reduce conflict.
Labor and Employment Research Fund (LERF)
LERF is a multi-campus University of California research program devoted to studying labor and employment issues in California and the nation.
Miguel Contreras Labor Program
The Miguel Contreras Labor Program (MCLP) is a multi-campus program that carries out, through its affiliated components, research and education on issues of labor and employment.
Pacific Rim Research Program
The Pacific Rim Research Program promotes the study of the Pacific Rim as a distinctive region. The Program places priority on research that is new, specific to the region, and collaborative – reaching across national boundaries and bridging academic disciplines.
UC Davis-Chevron Agreement
Chevron Corp. will fund up to $25 million in research at UC Davis to develop affordable, renewable transportation fuels and address the vast range of variables -- from genetics to thermochemical reactions and economics -- that will be involved if many of our cars and trucks are to be powered in the future by something other than gasoline and diesel fuel.UC Energy Institute (UCEI)
UCEI fosters research in energy fields by supporting
interdisciplinary, policy-related studies on critical energy issues in
the natural and social sciences and engineering.
UC Humanities Research Institute
The UCHRI stresses interdisciplinary research and topics traditional
to the humanities in disciplines such as literature, philosophy,
classics, languages, and history, as well as human dimensions in the
social and natural sciences, medicine, technology, and the professions.
UC Institute for Mexico and the United States (UC MEXUS)
UC MEXUS promotes education, research, public service, and other
scholarly activities in five principle areas: (1) Mexican Studies, (2)
United States-Mexico Relations, (3) Latino Studies, (4) Critical
Issues, and (5) UC-Mexico Collaboration.
UC Linguistic Minority Research Institute (UC LMRI)
UC LMRI promotes improvement of school success, and access of language-minority students to UC and other institutions of higher learning
Welfare Policy Research Project (WPRP)
WPRP conducts applied policy research sought by senior state and local officials regarding public assistance programs and low-income populations in California.
